Love Performances are works of art made by artists, especially for their loved ones. They express very intensive feelings – they are a type of correspondence addressed to a person you love. Love Performances, dedicated to only one person, act as intimate gestures, which main role is for relationships to become stronger. There is a probability that only this partner can fully apprehend their message. Often, these works are not created for the public display – they are not calculated, only driven by their own logic. A theme of love does not appear in these works of art. They are somehow an active participant in a relationship, whether as everyday gestures, declarations of love, or they appear during a break-up. These works, made in different relationship phases, express feelings related to love, such as frustration or pain. Love Performance is being created in a various medium; it is not restrained in a single work of art. It is more an example of how does art accompany life. Sometimes, the works of art live longer than a relationship between people. After the break-up, they exist on their own, despite the relation that inspired them in a first place. Furthermore, Love Performances combine aspects of private and public; they are a reflection of the socio-political situation as well.
